Welcome 2013 Volunteers!

Welcome: Hi!  Welcome to your new 2013 Ashburn Library Summer Reading Program (SRP) Teen Volunteer blog!   We are happy that you want to volunteer at the library this summer and help us make the 2013 SRP the best ever!  We couldn’t do it without your help. This blog is where you can learn more about being a volunteer, check your weekly schedule, and find out about additional volunteer opportunities.  It will also be the place to post questions or simply share volunteer experiences!

Orientations:  Every SRP volunteer must attend an orientation.  There are two orientations to choose from: Thursday, May 30, 7-8:30 pm or Saturday, June 1, 2-3:30 pm.  If you are unable to attend either orientation, you will not be able to be a SRP volunteer.  There are other volunteer opportunities at the library, however.

2013 Theme: The 2013 theme for the SRP is: "In Your Backyard".  Our Summer Reading Program starts on Monday, June 10th and ends on Monday, August 5th. Volunteer shifts start on Monday, June 10th.

Weekly Schedules: We ask each volunteer to commit to working at least one 2-hr or 2½ hr shift each week.  Summer Reading Sign-up/Desk Shifts are: 10 am-12:30 pm, 12:30-3:30 pm, 3-5 pm, 5-7 pm, 7-9 pm. Afternoon/Evening Programming shifts are Monday 6:00 - 8:00 pm or Tuesday and Thursday 2:30 - 4:30 pm. You can tell us your shift preferences when you fill out the SRP volunteer registration form in person at the Ashburn Library Youth Services Desk.

Sub List: If you have been told that your name will be put on the sub list check here for updates as well as open volunteer shifts!

OK, that's all for now.  We will post more soon!
